Conventional Changes

By: Rich Tomasso

This year's state convention will see a fair amount of changes. First, we are moving to a shorter schedule and just including a lunch meal. This should make it easier for more people to attend and will help keep the costs down.

We are considering two party constitutional amendments, seen below. If you have any questions, please email them to info@lpnh.org or write them down for the discussion during the business meeting. The full Party constitution is available at this link for your reading pleasure.

ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS

Sec. 1 - All officers and their alternates shall be elected at a Regular Convention of the Party and shall take office immediately upon the close of the convention and serve thereafter until the final adjournment of the next Regular Convention. The officers of the Party shall be a Chair, a Treasurer, a Secretary, and a Vice-Chair from each Congressional District. Alternates for each Vice-Chair shall be elected, who will serve whenever the Vice-Chair is unable to perform the duties of the office.

ARTICLE V: MEMBERSHIP

Sec. 3 - To be repealed, as it is superceded by Article VIII:2, passed in 2004, and therefore redundant and potentially confusing.

We will also end the convention with new party officers. At this time, Avens O'Brien will not be running again for 1st district vice-chair, Sandy Pierre will not be running again for Treasurer and Brendan Kelly will be stepping down as Chairman, citing his likely election to the statehouse and additional commitments with his selectman's position. As always, all of our executive board positions will be up for election and are open to everyone who has been a member and NH resident for at least 1 year. Please consider joining the LPNH leadership team, or else nominate someone you would like to see in that position.

As a reminder, all state party members in good standing as of September 25 are eligible to vote during the business meeting. If you're not a member yet, join now and you have have a say in Party business.
